A slow-growing and quite petite succulent variety, H. pygmaeaforms compact 4-inch rosettes of very fleshy, triangularly shaped leaves that curve sharply away from the center of the plant. The leaves themselves are a rich green with lighter green striations and a layer of white stippling across the upper surface. During the summer months, the white blooms add yet another layer of texture, rising above the rosettes on stalks over a foot in height.
Haworthiapygmaeademonstrates the same ease of care for which its genus is known. While it can be acclimated to brighter sunlight, it is also content to grow within indirect or partially shaded conditions making it an ideal houseplant in most homes. Avoiding excess moisture is key to the success of this specimen, so be sure to adhere to a thorough but infrequent watering routine and provide the plant with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot.
Furthermore, take care to protect itfrom frost during the winter months, which could otherwise cause permanent scarring on its thick and fleshy leaves.
