Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree) is one of my favoritetrees with itsmajestic 4′-6′ mature tree trunk, lush green foliage, pyramid shape, relativelyfast growth, showy tulip-likeflowers, and its golden-yellow fall color! It is oneof the largest native trees in North Americaand is a member of the magnolia family. TulipTree can be used as a large shade tree, a specimentree, and if given enough soil and canopy space and the correct conditions a street tree. However, this tree is not very tolerant of salt so avoidbusy streets with high salt use. This is a unique andexotic (but native) tree indeed!
