Rhapis excelsa – Lady Palm

Rhapis excelsa, commonly known as Lady Palm, is an elegant clumping palm admired for its slender, bamboo-like trunks and fan-shaped, glossy green fronds. Its dense, upright growth habit and refined appearance make it a popular choice for indoor spaces, patios, or shaded garden beds. Growing to a height of 24 meters, this versatile palm adds a touch of tropical sophistication to any setting.

Position

Lady Palm thrives in partial to full shade and performs best in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter. It adapts well to a variety of soil types, including sandy, loamy, and clay soils. Tolerant of cool temperatures and low light conditions, it is ideal for indoor use or shaded gardens in tropical, subtropical, and temperate climates.

Growth

This slow-growing palm reaches a mature height of 24 meters with a spread of about 1.52 meters, forming dense clumps of slender trunks topped with elegant, fan-shaped fronds.
